The buzz around Prismatic Evolution is real—and for good reason! This upcoming Pokémon set has drawn comparisons to the beloved Evolving Skies, and it’s easy to see why. Featuring all the Eeveelutions, this set is already generating excitement among collectors and investors alike. Like its predecessor, Prismatic Evolution boasts stunning Special Illustration Rare cards, many of which carry hefty price tags.
To understand the hype, let’s look at its Japanese counterpart, Terastal Festival, which was released on December 6, 2024. As always, Japanese sets give us a glimpse of what’s to come, and the trends are clear: Eeveelution cards dominate the market, with Umbreon taking the top spot once again.
If you recall Evolving Skies, the “Moon-breon” card became the crown jewel of the set, fetching just under $2,000 raw at its peak. Fast forward to Terastal Festival, where the new Umbreon card is already selling for nearly $500 in Japan. With Prismatic Evolution hitting North America on January 17, 2025, it’s safe to predict that this card could climb to $1,000 or more in the English release.
While Umbreon steals the spotlight, other Eeveelutions like Espeon and Leafeon also feature breathtaking artwork, with many cards exceeding the $100 mark. One surprise standout is a Pikachu card, which is the second most expensive card in Terastal Festival, priced at over $200. This came as a shock since Surging Sparks focused heavily on Pikachu, but fans clearly can’t get enough of the iconic electric mouse.
With its incredible lineup of cards and jaw-dropping artwork, Prismatic Evolution is shaping up to be one of the biggest Pokémon TCG releases ever. Early pre-sales on the Pokémon Center website sold out in record time, and sealed products are already appearing on eBay for over $500.
If you’re lucky enough to secure some Prismatic Evolution products, consider keeping a few sealed—this set has all the markings of a future classic. Pokémon is gearing up for a monumental 2025, and Prismatic Evolution is leading the charge.
